Registration
Late registration for any remaining accommodations is available until space runs out or until midnight on August 1, whichever comes sooner. The conference registration fee for all participants ($400) includes entry to all scientific sessions, conference materials, poster session and workshop participation, refreshments and internet access. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REGISTER ON-SITE. If you have any questions regarding the registration process, please call Jennifer Bloom, Registration Coordinator, at 831-459-4429 or email her at jmbloom@ucsc.edu. Upon registration, an automatic email will be sent to the address on your registration form. This is the only receipt of payment email you will receive. If you must cancel your registration and do so prior to 2 weeks before the conference, the cancellation fee is $50.00. Any cancellations closer than 2 weeks forfeit the housing/dining fees. Register at these links: Participant, Invited Speaker.

Abstracts
The abstract submission deadline passed on June 15, 2012. Late abstracts will only be accepted now from invited speakers. Please submit your abstracts online. At the abstract submission site, you will be able to indicate if you would like your abstract to be considered for a talk. Abstracts should be submitted here: Abstract.

SCDB Young Investigator Award
If you are a grad student, postdoc, or junior faculty (not having tenure by the date that the meeting starts), and you would like to be considered for the SCDB Young Investigator Award, please also submit a CV at the abstract submission site. The awardee will be selected based on his/her abstract and CV. The SCDB Young Investigator Awardee will speak in the opening session.

All participants will be housed in Porter College and College Eight on the campus of UCSC, within a short walking distance of the conference site. Participants will be housed in student apartments with a maximum four (4) persons to an apartment in College Eight or five (5) to an apartment in Oakes College. Single rooms contain one twin bed and double rooms contain two twin beds. If you choose a double room, please indicate roommate preference. If one is not listed, we will assign one to you. All housing has shared bathroom facilities, with a communal kitchen and living room area. The refrigerator is left on, but stoves are disabled during the summer season. Cooking is not permitted at any time; and hot plates, coffee makers and microwave ovens are not allowed. Guests requiring special accommodation should inform their conference director well in advance. Two towels and bed linens are provided. Please bring your personal toiletry items. Campus housing is sold as a package plan only. The 2012 SCDB meeting will start with an evening plenary session on Wed. Aug 8 and end after an afternoon plenary session (at ~5:00 PM) on Sat. Aug 11.  We will have a wine tasting after the Sat. plenary session, after which meeting participants can have dinner on campus or in town. Most participants will spend Sat. night on campus, and therefore will need a 4-night (Wed. through Sat. nights) housing package.  For participants who want to travel home Sat. night, we are offering a 3-night (Wed. through Fri. nights) housing option.

The package plan includes breakfasts, lunches and dinners, with most meals served cafeteria style at a dining hall in close proximity to your housing. Each housing option comes with meals that extend from dinner on the first night through lunch on the day of check-out.  Housing fees also include a parking permit.

Additional nights for participants who want to arrive early or stay late can be purchased. Fees are on the registration form. Registrations received after June 1 are subject to availability. Housing on the UCSC campus is by pre-registration ONLY! No “walk-on” housing will be available.

Each participant will be responsible for making their own individual housing reservations. Payment: in US FUNDS ONLY, MasterCard, Visa, Discover Card and American Express.

Commuter attendees
Commuter attendees (those not requiring a housing package) must also register for the meeting. Commuter attendees may also purchase meals and a parking permit. Food service on campus at UCSC is extremely limited during the summer months and cash purchases of meals will not be available. It is recommended that if you wish to eat with the group, you purchase specific meals in advance. Parking permits are required to park anywhere on campus. August in Santa Cruz is at the peak of the summer tourist season, and hotels and motels in Santa Cruz and adjacent communities are booked months in advance, especially weekends.
