Getting to Santa Cruz
UCSC is located on the ocean side of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Two major airports are close by on the San Francisco peninsula. The San Jose International Airport (SJC) is the closest airport. It is about 30 miles (45-60 minutes) from UCSC, depending on traffic conditions, and is served by most domestic and regional airlines, with limited service to Mexico and Canada. The San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is about 70 miles north of UCSC. It is the primary international airport of the region and is served by all major airlines. It is recommended that international travelers (for example from Europe, Asia and Australia) fly direct to San Francisco then travel by road to UCSC (allow 1.5-2 hours.).
Getting To Campus from Bay Area Airports
We are organizing group shuttles to pick meeting participants up from the airports at peak arrival times on Wed Aug 8, and deliver them back to the airports at peak departure times on Sat Aug 11 and Sun Aug 12. The cost will be $50 round trip from SJC, or $75 round trip from SFO. To reserve a spot on the shuttle, please send the following information to firstname.lastname@example.org:

If you have not already booked a flight, be aware that SJC is closer to Santa Cruz than SFO.
NOTE ALL SHUTTLE RESERVATIONS MUST BE MADE IN ADVANCE.
If you don't join a group shuttle, below are some other options for you to book your own rides:
1) Early Bird Shuttle (831-462-3933) will meet your flight and drive you to your destination. Their fee from SJC to UCSC is $75 for 1-3 people 1-way (not including gratuity). Their fee from SFO to UCSC is $115 for 1-3 people 1-way (not

including gratuity). Those numbers mean that 3 people can share a $75 or $115 ride. Additional passengers will be charged $10 per person, and there's an international arrival fee of $15. Others include University Shuttles (831-427-7827) and Santa Cruz Airport Flyer (831-423-5937), with similar prices.
2) Rent a car. Parking permits are included in the room & board fee of registrants. Commuters pay $6/day. Participants driving to the meeting will likely take Highway 17 from the north or HIghway 1 from the south. When entering Santa Cruz, head north/west on Highway 1 toward Half Moon Bay. Highway 1 becomes Mission Ave. Turn right at Bay St. and proceed to the campus entrance at Bay and High. Instead of driving onto campus at Bay and High, turn left onto High and drive up Empire Grade to the West Entrance to campus. At the 3rd stop sign on campus, turn right into the upper parking lot of College Eight. We will have 1-2 students in the parking lot to give you your parking permit, direct you to the check-in area and the long-term parking area just below College Eight, and to take your luggage while you park.

Parking on the UCSC campus is regulated 24-hours, 7 days a week and all vehicles parked on the campus are required to have a parking permit. On-campus residents will receive a parking permit as part of their room and board package. Commuters may purchase a parking permit at check-in.
